Consultancy and Training

I have particular expertise in working with teams and individuals working with:

• Young people in HE and school settings
• Psychosis and self-harming behaviours , or other mental health difficulties
• Cancer and rare diseases
• Brain injuries

I now specialize particularly in the psychological impact of cancer and rare diseases, including genetic conditions. I am Founder and Director of Counselling Services for 2 rare disease charities AMEND and NET Patient Foundation, providing an innovative integrated approach to ‘Living With’ cancer and chronic related conditions using zoom/WhasApp and telephone counselling.

I present nationally and internationally at conferences, and run workshops and training days for health care professionals and patient groups. I consult to teams and specialist patient groups on a range of issues including:

• The psychological impact of rare conditions
• Young adults and adolescents with cancer / rare disease
• Therapy and technology: impact on practitioner and patient
• Looking after yourself: the impact of patient distress on health care professionals
• Dealing with diagnosis
• Breaking bad news
• Setting up specialist psychological support services (including counselling services and peer mentoring programmes)
