Individual Counselling

Psychotherapy and counselling involves a confidential relationship between therapist and client. The overall aim is for you to be able to explore your difficulties in a neutral setting with a view to understanding and managing your problems more effectively.

You may be considering counselling because you want to understand yourself and your relationships better - either personally or in your workplace; or you may be considering talking about something painful or difficult that you have been struggling with for some time.

The type of therapy I offer provides a safe reliable relationship in which to help you make links between your present difficulties and your past experiences and exploring together how things might be able to change, or become more bearable.

People come for counselling with a wide range of difficulties including:

  • relationships
  • family difficulties e.g. parenting, caring, cultural concerns
  • anxiety and panic attacks
  • depression
  • anger
  • identity concerns
  • dealing with change e.g. illness, redundancy
  • feeling empty or worthless
  • problems with coping in your family or at work
  • self-harming behaviours or patterns
  • lack of confidence
  • suicidal thoughts
  • loss or bereavement (including divorce, fertility problems)
  • traumatic incidents e.g. assaults, accidents
  • sexual concerns
  • problems with food, alcohol or drugs
