Couples Counselling

Sometimes it is useful to attend therapy as a couple in order to address difficulties between you in a supportive and neutral environment.

Sessions can help you understand your relationship from another perspective, and help you to discuss difficult feelings, different values or expectations  with the help of a trained therapist. Even a short number of sessions can help you communicate more clearly, clarify your concerns and enable you to think together about your relationship , and what you can do to change your situation for the better.

I am experienced in working with both same-sex and heterosexual couples, whether married/in a civil partnership, living together or apart, separated or divorced. I am committed to working respectfully with different cultural or religious beliefs.

Issues that can helpfully be addressed in couple work include:

  • Deciding whether or not to stay together
  • Recovering from an affair
  • Working through the process of separation/divorce
  • Understanding and managing conflict and disagreement
  • Sexual difficulties
  • Parenting concerns
  • Step-parenting
  • Impact of a serious illness
  • Fertility problems
  • Impact of life events such bereavement, unemployment

An Initial Consultation can be arranged to discuss whether Couples Counselling might be appropriate for your needs, prior  to any on-going sessions.

I am a member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.
